SPRE Events

What we do

SPRE exists to help research and policymaking meet in the middle. Through our brokerage network, our online resources, and events like the one below, we connect academics with the people making decisions across Scottish and UK government and parliament.

Most of our public events are open for anyone to join. If you don’t see something that fits, we also design tailored sessions for research groups, academic departments and early career researchers. Get in touch and we’ll put one together for your team.

Embedding Impact Online Course

Weave impact in, don’t patch it on

Embedding Impact is a 5-week online course designed to help you understand, plan, practice and measure impact in complex contexts. Through interactive workshops, practical clinics and guided peer learning, you will explore how to build more intentional, reflective and evidence-informed approaches to creating change.

The course covers four core modules: defining impact in complex systems, building a useful Theory of Change, developing monitoring and evaluation frameworks, and embedding impact into everyday practice. Participants will also take part in a follow-on consolidation workshop later in the year to reflect on learning and application.

Designed for researchers, knowledge mobilisers, charities, community groups and public sector professionals, the course combines strategic thinking with practical tools you can immediately apply to your own projects and programmes. Participants will receive access to extensive online resources and a certificate upon completion.

Embedding Impact runs Tuesdays and Thursdays in August 2026 and costs 550 – 950 GBP
